Dear Business Buddy,

I know you’ve been debating bringing another team member on, are you ready for it? If it gets to the point where hiring is urgent… it would be better to get your resources in place to be ready for them!
Do you have a central place where all your Onboarding resources are located? This could be a great time to add missing pieces if you aren’t able to check it off.

Document: HR- Onboarding Hub

Employee Handbook (Make sure it includes things like Policies for attendance, performance, and conduct; benefits and compensation details.)

Training Timeline (What can the employee expect in terms of support during training, for how long, and when are they considered out of training?)

Organization Chart (Who is in charge of what at the company? If they have a question, does this answer who they should be talking to about it?)

Job Description (This is important for metrics like performance and delegation; keep this updated for accurate ownership in the company and employee reviews)

Checklist for Onboarding Tasks (Don’t let this live in your head alone, document so you won’t miss steps. Add to Payroll software? Grant access to CRM? Create Company Email? Notify bookkeeper?)

Meeting Schedule (Company meeting schedule, make sure they are invited to the ones they are to attend.)

Company Overview (Mission statement, Company Values, Historical Events of Company, Times of year to note like busy seasons or company time off, etc)
